John Burkett, Phil Pearce and Mark Hughes travelled to Birmingham Sunday 31 October 2021 following their selection into the SE England 70’s Walking Football Team who is based at Billericay Town FC.
The 1st round of the National Super League for the over 70’s was held at Solihull Football Centre Birmingham. The National Regional teams entered were South East England, South West England, North West England and Central England. The SE England team were superior in all aspects of the game. They maintained their shape, composure on the ball and in particular their fast paced passing and movement on and off the ball. The stand out players for the SE England were John Burkett and Jim Mellish who had outstanding games in the spine of the team. There were also excellent performances from Wakering players Phil Pearce and Mark Hughes.
