Johnson’s brace lifts Wakering 50’s to 3rd

Wakering 50’s competed in the penultimate round of league matches at Melbourne Park Chelmsford and climbed up to third spot winning 2 and drawing one.

Wakering run out 3 – 1  winners over Billericay White  with two thunderous goals from Dave Willis and a well taken goal from Kevin Bantin.

The second match against Beacon Hill Rovers finished 0 – 0 did not reflect the possession and superior play of Wakering which was hindered following the injury to Kevin Bantin. Unable to recover he remained sidelined for the rest of the tournament. Dave Willis the player manager had to change the formation and brought on Paul Johnson to bolster up the defence.

Wakering’s final match was a complete performance said Dave Willis “as we defended well and set up some great attacking moves with Paul Johnson playing superbly in a wing back role scoring 2 good goals and unlucky to not add to his tally”. Wakering run out 3-0 winners with Paul Johnson being named man of the tournament.
