Wakering WFC played the South East Regional Final of the WFA 60’s National Cup against Eastwood Falcons 31 August 2019 and run out convincing winner’s 4-1.
Eastwood started a with a high press and closing down game for the first 10 minutes of the match. They expended a lot of energy trying to close down Wakering’s superior passing game. However Eastwood’s commitment to a high press lead to them taking an early lead. Wakering maintained their composure which frustrated Eastwood who under constant pressure were unable to stop Peter Henry firing the ball into their goal to level the score.
Wakering used their subs wisely in the second half to maintain their energy levels. Eastwood could not live with Wakering’s flowing passing game and started to leave gaps at the back which Wakering capitalised with 2 more goals midway through the second half from Peter Henry effectively killing off the game with his man of the match hat trick.
To their credit Eastwood kept on battling but were not able to stop Wakering from scoring a fourth goal well crafted by Pino Schisano to round off a comprehensive win.
Wakering, crowned South East champions now travel to the home of England to play in the National Finals against the champions of the South West Region, North West region, North East region and Central regions of England and Wales to decide who will be the National Champions.
