Wakering over 60’s maintain top spot

Wakering over 60’s played four matches attempting to keep their unbeaten run in tact. They started the day sitting on top of the league with a match against Eastwood Falcons Blues who they had beaten before in previous rounds. Wakering were expected to win this game easily and should have done so hitting the post 6 times, the bar 4 times and having several shots saved. After completely dominating the game Eastwood scored with their only shot of the game, a miskick with scooped up into the right corner. Eastwood Blues 1 Wakering 0

Wakering’s second match was against Concord Rangers who they comprehensive outplayed scoring 4 goals from 12 attempts. Their goalkeeper made several very good saves to stop a rout. Wakering 4 Concord 0

Wakering’s third match was a top of the table clash against Leyton Orient in second place 2 points behind. Wakering’s overall passing and creating goal scoring chances, was far superior scoring 3 very good goals. Orient were fully contained confining them to long distance shots. Wakering’s final match was against Eastwood Falcons first team. After losing to Falcons second team undeservedly, Wakering had a something to prove, in that they were topping the league table on merit and the loss to their second team was a one off. Again Wakering dominated the game confining Falcons to one shot that hit the post in the first half. Wakering were awarded a penalty which saw them go into lead after which Falcons could not contain Wakering’s passing and movement which provided 2 more very well crafted and taken goals.
